Musica Viva 2017-18 Season October Concerts

Dear Chamber Music Enthusiasts,

We are excited to announce the 15th Anniversary Season of Musica Viva and hope you can join us for any or all of these events. We are planning four exciting and different programs for the 2017-18 season.

As in the past all of our concerts are presented free of charge. We welcome donations to offset our expenses (plane flights, car rentals, honoraria for our guest artists, printing of programs, etc.).

Due to an unavoidable family situation pianist Faith DeBow will not be able to return to California this October as previously scheduled. She will hopefully be returning soon to join us in a new program featuring the music of Johannes Brahms. We would like to offer our Brahms concept project (Brahms op. 99, 100, 101) either in the Spring of 2018 or early in the following season.

Our first set of concerts this season will be a new edition of our “Musical Miniatures from Around the World” program featuring wonderful musical selections from ten countries written or arranged for violin and cello. This program is very suitable for all ages, young and old alike, intellectually stimulating and also pure joy and enthusiasm. We cordially invite you to participate in this event with us.

The venues and dates are as follows:

October 16 (Monday) Fresno: University Presbyterian Church, 7:00 p.m.
1776 E. Roberts Avenue
Fresno, CA 93710-6509

October 17 (Tuesday) Porterville: Porterville College, 7:00 p.m.
Music Department
100 College Avenue
Porterville, CA 93257-6058

October 19 (Thursday) Visalia: First Presbyterian Church, 7:30 p.m.
215 N. Locust Street
Visalia, CA 93291-4945

October 20 (Friday) Kingsburg, Concordia Lutheran Church, 7:00 p.m.
1800 Sierra Street
Kingsburg, CA 93631-1407

October 21 (Saturday) Reedley, First Mennonite Church, 7:00 p.m.
1208 L Street
Reedley, CA 93654-3338

We will continue the season (pun intended) with our annual Advent-themed presentations of words and music in early December. Dates, venues, and times will be announced soon.

Our friend and guest artist, flutist Shelley Mann, will return from Colorado to play a set of concerts with us from February 1-4, 2018: “Flute Favorites”, including our 8th Annual SuperBowl Alternative Concert at Porterville College on Sunday, February 4, 2018.

A new guest artist will join us in May for several concerts: Heidi Franklin, doublebass, in a program of rarities for violin, violoncello, and doublebass.

Details about each set of concerts will be announced approximately a month before each set.

Many thanks for your support over the last 14 seasons. We sincerely hope that our 15th Anniversary Season will be the best yet.

Please feel free to forward this email to all of your friends and family members. We are looking forward to welcoming back old friends and to making many new ones and to sharing this new season with you all!!

I am sorry that this announcement is coming much later than I had hoped. I lost the entire Musica Viva email list (even the back-up!) and had to restore the list from scratch. I apologize if your name is still on this list although you might have contacted me to have your name taken off the list.
